Axholme Bridleways Association organised a Charity Event on Sunday 14 May 2017 which attracted over 130 participants to Farmers Farm Shop in Westwoodside who kindly hosted the event for us and provided refreshments throughout the day. Over half of those taking part enjoyed the local countryside on horseback with some choosing to ride the two longer routes and covering around 15 miles. Most of the remaining participants were walkers who had a variety of routes to choose from and there were also a handful of cyclists taking part too.
The event was part of the British Horse Society’s Ride Out UK month, which aims to raise funds for their Paths for Communities Fund. Axholme Bridleways Association were proud to send a cheque for £441 to this fund and the Association intend to make an application to later this year for a local project to improve one of our routes and the average award is usually around £2000.
Much progress is expected in coming years in this area with the development of the Axholme Greenway bridleway route which will link villages and be a multi user route.
Also at the event were Lincs/Notts Air Ambulance who raised £150 with their tombola.
